Graduate Programme

The Mattioli Woods graduate programme provides all new joiners, irrespective of where they intend to take their career, with an in-depth understanding of the market we are in and the needs of our clients.

Our graduate recruitment initiative, which has now been in place for nearly fifteen years, has been key to the success of the organisation and the vast majority of our senior managers, account managers and consultants originally joined the company through this programme.

Continuing to drive this initiative will be an integral part of the development of the business. Backed by the enormous growth opportunities in our sector, which are widely recognised by our market, will ensure career opportunities will continue to be developed with a fast track approach.

Mattioli Woods recruits graduates throughout the year, with intakes in March, July and November.

A limited number of summer placements and year placements are also available.

Personal Requirements

Candidates must be reliable and display good organisation skills, coupled with integrity and dedication. Furthermore, applicants should be motivated, good communicators and enjoy working in small teams.

Historically, graduates have successfully joined us from Economics, Law, Accounting, Financial Services, Mathematics, Business Studies and English, although most disciplines are considered.

Graduate programme

New graduates are initially trained in a group of three or four on our training team under the guidance of a dedicated training manager. This training covers all aspects of the day-to-day running of our bespoke SSAS and SIPP products, as well as technical legislation and various areas of investments including commercial property transactions.

Graduates are given early responsibility for their own clients and will begin to build a portfolio of clients within the first few weeks into their career. They will be the primary source of contact for clients within the office as Mattioli Woods has a culture of developing long term client relationships, which are key to the firm's success.

After 6 months, graduates will then join an existing team to build on their initial training and develop their client portfolio knowledge by shadowing an experienced account manager. This is enhanced by our weekly tailored training sessions, covering the entire range of skills needed to be a successful account manager.

Account managers are encouraged to study for professional qualifications with the aim to complete the Certificate of Financial Planning within their first two years. Following the initial two-year period, graduates will generally have a much clearer idea of how they wish to progress their career. The growth of the company, both organic and through acquisitions naturally creates a number of career opportunities.
